Everest Poker Network

Everest Poker Network

Everest Poker Network is one of the mid-sized poker networks today and is growing all the time.

An Introduction to the Everest Poker Network

Though not a large poker network compared to some of the other networks like iPoker, the Everest Poker network is, nevertheless, growing in popularity, with a survey by Poker Scout placing it sixth in terms of traffic to the network.

The Everest Poker network is owned by Ultra Internet Media Ltd., S.A., and its mother company, GigaMedia Ltd., is listed on the NASDAQ. The network operates with a license from the Kahnawake Gaming Commission.

More about the Everest Poker Network

The Everest Poker Network has a lot going for it, including some good rooms and also cool promotions. On the positive side, the network not only offers some great games, but also tutorials for beginners and amateurs, with a Training Room available as well. There are a few negatives to consider too, the primary one being loose play at many of the tables on the network, with a lot of action in the low and medium stake games.

The Everest Poker Network is another poker network that does not accept US players, though this was not the case always. The non-acceptance of US players is a direct consequence of the UIGEA, after which the network decided to focus on the online gambling industry in Europe.

Traffic at the Everest Poker Network

Given the size of the network, player traffic here is relatively high. Each day, you can find approximately 5,000 players at the cash tables on the network, while twice that number turns out for the tournaments available daily.

Overall, in terms of traffic, the Everest Poker Network still has some distance to go if it has to play catch up with the other, bigger, networks. How soon that happens will depend on the steps that the management takes and the incentives they dish out to generate more player traffic to the network and also try and get more card rooms on board, if possible.

Software and Games at the Everest Poker Network

The software that drives the Everest Poker Network has been developed by Grand Virtual, a company that has been in the online gaming software development arena since 1997. One of the cool things about the software is its multi-lingual platform, thereby ensuring the network is accessible on a truly global scale.

The software is available only in a download-version, meaning players who prefer playing directly from a browser will not be able to do so here. There are a number of positive features that the software provides, apart from the multi-lingual platform. These include an excellent lobby, an awesome 3D environment, the standard multi-table play, and checking out the statistics. However, the software does not support table resizing, nor does it allow you to use a mini-view.

Players who love Omaha and other poker games may be in for a disappointment at the Everest Poker Network, as the only game you get here is Texas Hold’em. The good thing is that a large section of the online poker playing community seems to favor Texas Hold’em anyway. The game is available in no limit, fixed limit, and pot limit options.
