Roulette Strategies

Using Roulette Strategies

There are many roulette strategies that people use. Using roulette strategies is a matter of choice and each one should be investigated carefully before purchasing any information.

Using Roulette Strategies

There are many gamblers who use roulette strategies.  There are many different methods available for purchase, most claiming that the player will get rich quickly.  The real winners are those that are prepared to win slowly, using the only strategy that can really work.  This strategy is quite simply, keeping the house edge as low as possible.

The roulette strategists who use this method pay particular attention to the specific house rules that are in effect which can affect the odds of the roulette game.

House Rules Affecting Roulette Strategies

The main two house rules that could be in effect are "surrender" and "en prison".  Both these rules apply to outside bets that pay even money (1:1).

The "surrender" rule is that if the ball falls on the zero (0) or the double zero (00), you will lose only half the value of the bet that you placed, instead of the whole bet.

The "en prison" rule is exactly what it sounds like.  If the roulette ball lands on the zero, the better does not immediately lose their bet.  The bet stays where it is, as if the chips have been imprisoned on the board.  When the wheel is next spun, if the earlier bet is a winner, the player will receive their chips back, but will not be paid anything extra - simply, you will not lose your money.  On the other hand, if the earlier bet is now a losing bet, the player will lose their money.  If the ball lands on the zero again, the chips stay "en prison" and the next round will decide the fate of the original bet.

Apart from the above, it is also important to try and find a single zero wheel to play on if it is available as the house edge is reduced by 2.56%.

Roulette Strategies and Mathematics

It is important to remember that gambling games, including roulette, are games of chance.  Some skill is required in some of the games, but the element of chance will always be there.  Gambling is literally "taking a gamble" that you will win - that is why it is called gambling.

Many of the strategies that are being sold today try to "wow" the customer with mathematical arguments, assuring the player that their particular method will be the one that will help the player to strike gold.

Assuming that complicated mathematical calculations will help you win in a game of chance would be a big mistake.  Mathematics is an exact science, and has very little place (apart from calculating the odds or the house edge) in roulette strategies.

Caveat Emptor

There is a lot of good advice and a lot of useless advice that is available on the internet and in books about using roulette strategies.  It is up to the buyer to decide which methods they would like to try or not.

The famous Latin phrase, "caveat emptor" which means "let the buyer beware", is certainly very apt when deciding to buy information about roulette strategies.
